You should stay well away from Mario Karts as its mainly for hardcore gamers, the online especially can get really competitive and you have to be on top of your game.
As your new to gaming there are other easyier games you can play to get you started. You should try wii sports and do a bit of bowling or Just Dance 4.

OT, Sony is only selling due to hype, they can never compete when it comes to quality software and games with good gameplay.

Nintendo Fanboys = Prefer Quality gameplay, don't really care about specs and sales as long as game is enjoyable, its all about the games. Although some believe Nintendo can do no wrong, which keeps Nintendo somewhat Nostalgic and behind the other consoles when it comes to hardware.
I bought a Wii U because I seen the potential it had and I love Nintendo. They are the richest, most talented and most experienced gaming company in the world but at the moment it just seems like they're giving a big F YOU to their loyal fans and are not trying to reach a larger audience.
