The problem is most of the studio acquisitions are from average game studios that were already making exclusive games for xbox. Obsidian and Ninja Theory are certainly great developers but let's not pretend they are of caliber to produce system selling exclusives.

That's verifiably false. The 360 didn't outsell the PS3; when you compare them side-by-side the PlayStation always sold at a faster rate. The 360 released almost an entire year ahead of the PS3. So no, it didn't dominate.
Good point! Even with the missteps if the PS3, it still sold faster year on year than the Xbox 360 ever did. The reason is took most the generation to catch up is because they were chipping away at a 9+ million deficit from releasing a year later.
"Edge" out is not accurate. PS has always sold at much faster rates year on year and globally. Since these two consoles will release only days or weeks apart, there is no chance that MS will be about to keep up with Sony. I see some improvements from MS over the last year but I've also seen massive momentum being built by Sony. Let's be realistic.
