I really think this is the way more developers should handle free-to-play on consoles. Don't make mechanics the pay part; give the base game for free then sell the game parts out individually.

Its the same reason I really like the method of F2P for fighting games where you get the base game and buy which characters you want. It just makes more sense and gives consumers more flexibility.

I hardly see it as screwing over. You have to take into the account of the fickle nature of fighting game fans as consumers: they will go where the brand (and the players) are. It's why the SFIV servers on 360 are so heavily populated compared to the PS3: The top players were on 360.

Considering the fact that due to the nature of the console cycle being new, I believe an overwhelming majority of fighting game fans have been on the fence, waiting for an announcement like ...

Honestly, I think games can be more than just about degree of difficulty. I acknowledge that the game isn't terribly difficult. However, I'm more than willing to forgive degree of difficulty for a unique experience.

I also wouldn't be shocked if something harder gets added in the season pass.

That's how I viewed what money I did give in Marvel Puzzle Quest: I almost considered it to be a tip jar, of sorts.

Not at all. I love DoTA. Regular player. I also would never consider it in the same league as Candy Crush, Angry Birds, et al. DotA is free to play, it isn't "free-to-play."

Now, if skins were sold that offered stat bonuses, or you only had so many times you could play per hour then had to wait for them to recharge or pay money to refill, etc., then we'd have a problem.

Between this and Transistor and Banner Saga, it's a great time for art aesthetic in games.

True, but there is nothing more painful than playing a fighting game on an unstable connection.

And, to your point, those ports HAVE been lacking: Sly 4-in my opinion- is almost unplayable because of load times and frame rate issues.

Don't even get me started on how terrible the Vita version of the last Ratchet and Clank game, Full Frontal Assault. It is, in spots, literally unplayable.

Baby steps with Nintendo in regards to hardware. We should just be glad that the Wii-U even has wifi capabilities. =P

I'm not really sure how disappointing a re-release of a rel-release of a re-release of an almost ten year-old game can be.

I have his books sitting on my Amazon account currently. I should really dig into them.

This was pretty much an immediate purchase for me. I'm glad to see the Vita is thriving with these niche indie titles that really emphasize the pick up and playness that the system does really well.

Of course, my brain has been trained from years of Tony Hawk to play skaters a certain way and I can't stop trying to ollie with the x button. Sigh.

My UMDs are still sad.

I have to disagree: Steam is a service with a storefront. There is an infrastructure and it serves multiple purposes.

OH BOY A SLIDESHOW HOW EXCITING.

Really, I don't think the mods are that much an improvement. Looks like a blur filter and something that kicked the resolution up a tad. It's not like it was a bad looking game, anyways.

I wake up and this thing has blown up, eh? I feel I should iterate with a conversation my wife and I had this morning about the merits of PS+ and Steam.

Keep in mind, this is just the opinion of two people and I'm more than aware that my mindset is certainly not going to mesh with anyone elses, but, here you go:

Steam is a great service. I use it every day. I have somewhere around 200 games in my library, and like a lot of you I scour the site during sal...

I don't normally respond to trolling, but I'm feeling peppy, so here we go:

Capcom has stated that Udon's work is canon, writ large. If you need more proof, there are multiple references in game to Akuma not only sending Bison's soul to Hades, but also that he was revived from death. End of story.

Synthetic human = robot. Let's not mince words for the sake of being contrary.

Your argument is silly, sure, but let's no...

Couldn't agree more. Players need to remember that there was a time when we all would be BEGGING for a game to play. Hell, for the first year I had my Genesis, the only title I had was Sonic 2...and it was magical.

I appreciate every game I own and attempt to play as many as possible, even if I don't always finish them. I'm not the type to sell my games, so I always know I can and will come back to them.

I wish more people would appreciate the f...

I'm looking forward to finding that shack in 5 that everyone on Reddit has been going on and on about.

Squeenix is another company just like Capcom: Unable to see the forest due to the trees. They all have a lot of introspection to go through.
