Pc does this already, Dev code for games has this -I mean ubisoft and others were bragging about how scaling games up and down were so easy just 2/3 years ago.
Are you intentionally trying to look misinformed and ridiculous or Is it an accident? The leaks all state there will be no exclusive gameplay content and all games will have to play to a similar level they currently play to on the current ps4 with a better graphics and better frame rate/resolution etc on the 4k model. So destiny 2 and the division 2 would still function fine on your current ps4. Check you know wtf you are on about before ranting like that and making yourself look stupid.

If this is true Sony need to look into doing something similar for James bond. I need a really good bond game and really Good spiderman game been too long since everything or nothing and spiderman 2....
If the thing exists then the leaks are correct and as the leaks SPECIFICALLY SPECIFY no exclusive gameplay content just better graphics. It seems reasonable to assume that the case if we are even going to discuss the item at all as we must assume all these sources correct.
What are you on about most games are developed on pc. The pc is more powerful so often they just brute force it instead of optimising however the only issues occur on pc are because of the sheer number of different configurations. The ps4 will have 2 higher and lower graphics settings. It really is that simple moat engines are designed to scale.... Go look ubisoft were bragging how easy it was just s couple of years ago.
What I'm thinking, 3/4 year cycles with the previous version still required to be supported and then every 2 iterations the one before last gets support phases out or dropped. Wouldn't surprise me. However I suspect in 3/4 years there will be a ps5.

Where the hell are you getting ps near at 400 dollars from? I fully expect the current console ti go down in price abd the new one to drop in at existing poricepoint so £250 or 300 dollars. You don't have to buy it. If the leaks are correct and it appears likely that they are. There will be no exclusive features or content. All games must to current levels of performance on the current model just will have optional better graphics/frame rate etc on the new model/higher resolution. which they wont do. Sony must know this, you'd end up with less optimised versions for both. PS4k would end up with basically no change from ps4 and origianl model would likely play future titles slightly worse.
y their 'scources' confirmed a new ps4 model but 3 years in this was expected... the ps4 slim... all that's surprising is if they add hdmi 2.0 and uhd blu-ray playback but even that isn't too shocking. and @Aenea yeah I agree what a stupid idea that would be. Would make no sense todo that. Unless upgrade i incremental and just allows higher frame rate but I doubt sony will do it. The current console is capable of 4k video and pictures output but only at 30fps due to older hdmi port type, plus it cant play UHD blu-ray because it doesn't have a 4k blu-ray drive. Surprised me that it didn't at the time tbh but I guess they wanted to keep the cost down soa slim with hdmi 2.0 and new blu-ray drive would make perfect sense.
@newmonday: well by your logic there surely if the actual game performance of your 3.1 TF gpu is similar to the 1.8 TF ps4 (due to optimisation and stuff no doubt) surely the ps4k would only need to get to about 3TF to match the 4TF gpu performance? Although that's still 160% ish of it's current power. No likely ps4k is the slim ps4 with an UHD blu ray player hdmi2.0, better wifi card etc and al the new smaller chips due to developments within manufacturing process that shrink the die...
Destiny has been out alot linger and is cheaper now thus currently has larger player Base, however the division has more sales compared to destiny at same point in its lifecycle. Hardly a fair comparison.
Ummm seeing as in the mass effect games the mass effect engines allow faster than light travel by my last check and obviously they generally ignore relativity because as a second year physics student I can assure you the plot would become incredibly messy. Simply put you travel many many many light years in seconds/minutes/hours. Not if they are selling each one at a slight profit and if the price drop of the current model I suspect will accompany this ones release sells loads more of those ones then nope. I think it's aimed at a niche market though.
