@mouldy Sony don't really consider themselves in competition with PC. They've said this before. The pro was to offer an alternative for customers moving to PC only but in reality it was primarily aimed at 4k TV owners.
@mouldy that was specific to games with user generated content.... Clearly Sony had concerns about lack of control over moderation and I guess most likely potential lawsuits from a parent if content that shouldn't be there was missed.
@ganstared their security concerns may be specific to xbl for all we know if they exist. There are definitely differences between the console networks and PC ones. I could well be something like the specific way xbl accesses psn and/or the precense ...
@gangstared because people often buy a console to play with friends aswell. If their friends bought a ps4 it's a purchasing factor to be able to play with them.
I seem to recall the reason for no ps4 cross play was Microsoft wanted all cross play titles to be using xbl. Requiring ps4 players to sign up to and into xbl at least it was the requirement on a few titles. This is why Sony said no and have continued to allow pc-ps4 cross play on a number of titles.
It's quite simple, Microsoft want players to have to use xbl for cross play titles. So for minecraft and others including this I presume they want ps4 players using xbl.

NGL I'm really dissapointed by seemingly the lack of a full carreer offline. With cups and the like, seasonal challenges etc I'm glad theyve worlked on the pvp aspect but I think it may have had too much attention.
It has like license challenges but from the previews that is all. Rest is focused around online competitive play. Think like how rainbow six handled stuff as instant race aswell but that's it. Plus devs always make stuff in higher quality than required although his remarks suggest that they don't plan on releasing a new gt for a Long time, just dlc for this one. Don't forget the pioneering checkerboard rendering to conserve computational power but still achieve high resolutions with minimal to no real noticeable effect on image quality. Through both software and hardware innovations. Also pushing HDR in a way the others haven't.
The only real change in sonys behaviour and approach since last Feb is they got way better at marketing themselves and the product. When they did something this gen they made sure people and not just us core gamers on sites like these that is, they made sure people found out and knew about the new games, features and good things they were doing.
The PS3 didn't launch all that badly Considering... It had a high price they said some unfortunate stuff it was selling at a loss but it sold alot. Considering how much later than Xbox 360 it released it sold about the same over its life cycle and was always selling at a faster rate world wide and in Europe and Japan and Asia than Xbox ever was. Xbox was saved by USA and UK sales.
@kun_adr because market is saturated atm. Another console just splits existing market shares, likely the entrenched companies would be safe and a new entry would struggle to claw user base off them.
