DICE is pushing the MTX back until after they've resolved some of the game's issues. Isn't that a good thing? I don't like the MTX part, either, but at least they're (DICE) has the common sense to not implement it while there's a big problem in the game.

It's hit or miss. Sometimes the range is bonkers that you can hit someone at near SMG levels or more. Other times, well, you just saw it. Haha!
