Mass Effect is an amazing franchise, but IMO the January release date for Mass Effect 2 never helped the game attain the bigger retail sales it deserves.
Mass Effect 3 seems to have better penetration in terms of gamer and consumer awareness.
The game will definately have a huge shot at a million for the 360 in the first month.
The PC and the PS3 will trail those but ultimately 5 million would only be attainable if the game hit the spark that...
LOL it's 150% clear who the overwhelming majority of the people who are in constant whine mode over this DLC silliness..and it's clearly NOT the fans..who literally have the choice like EVERY game with DLC not to buy the content.

I'm a Cliffy fan but I think lite versions of game would be do more harm than good for the industry.
You have games that honestly are 60 dollars and the single player cam[aign is all gamers really care about. If you tell me I can pay 30 dollars for Bioshock or Uncharted 3 and then tell me I have to pay another 30 for the multi-player, the developer is NEVER going to see those multi-player dollars from me.

I honestly have a hard time removing Skyrim from my 360 tray.
