Not really surprising, a lot of games get day 1 patches these days.
So, the three possible reasons you've come up with are:
- A hacker hacked every PS3 in the world.
- An organization is behind this.
- A recent game, which EVERY single person in the world bought, and is corrupting the system.

Why is Alan Wake being compared to Heavy Rain so much? Admittedly, I haven't been following AW, seeing that I can't play it anyway, but from what I saw of it in the E3 coverage, it looked like a survival-horror third person adventure game with a flash light, kinda reminded me of SH: Homecoming. Completely different from HR.
