The aim assist was for select weapons,and there was a reason for that.
Can you imagine using the rifle, or the warhawk MG's if there wasn't aim assist. You'd never hit anybody. The trick comes from lifting your aim up, or finding the right time to jump to score headshots. Warhawk MGs had aim assist because you'd never hit shit otherwise.
They still need to give the rifle a damage boost though.

COD is a decent series, (and I am actually not a big fan) its just that they went the madden route and cashed in on its success. Slow it down, take a breather, and get some new life into the series. You don't need a new COD game every year and a half on basically the same engine. Take some time, get a massive update for their engine going, change things up a little.
Fighting games are always better offline.. No lag, no ragequits, and you get to put your hand in his face to win.

What recent problems? The only problem is this hack of PSN. They have been doing nothing but making ground on the other consoles and higher sales. They are continuing to release a buttload of anticipated exclusive games. They have been getting revenue from PS+.
