DA_SHREDDER, you have no idea what you are talking about. They have their own engine, written in c++. c++ is a programming language. You have to pick a programming language to write a game engine in. And practically every modern game engine is written in c++.
And actually c++ supports multi-threading. On desktop systems, you'd use a library like pthreads (so you don't have to make your own, which would take forever). I imagine there are PS3 c++ system calls to pick wh...
Ha. Of course they wouldn't use c#. It's a managed language (garbage collected), developed by Microsoft, and meant to run on Window's based systems using the .net library. Now if someone wrote their own compiler and didn't use any .net APIs, then the language spec technically could be used for gaming on other platforms. However, being a managed language syntax means no direct access to memory in most cases. It would just be too slow for gaming because of this.

But this happened to my 60 gig in December of last year. I had to pay $150 to send it in for a replacement 60 gig, which has been working perfect for about 5 months now. The worst part about it though was the fact that I had not backed up all my saved game files. I lost everything since I could not turn on my ps3 to get the saves, and I could not put the hard drive in a friends ps3 to copy them b/c the hard drive is encrypted to only work with the ps3 it's formatted with. I dunno how rare thi...
one of the pictures that's supposed to be from Killzone 2 is actually from Far Cry 2.
To answer your question, while the transfer rate on DVD's is currently a bit faster than Blu-Rays, the "4x", "20x", etc ratings can be misleading. 1x is the minimum standardized speed it takes to play a movie for any optical video format. Seeing how the bit rate for playing a DVD is much lower than for playing a Blu-Ray, 1x on each respective player does not equate to the same bit rate. To be specific, 1x on a DVD is 10.5 Mbit/s and 1x on a Blu-Ray is 36 Mbit/s. Doing the ...
I ordered mine...just in time for MSG4.
But I would think that the operating system of the iPhone takes up a considerable amount of that memory and uses a lot more processing power from the CPU than the PSP (and DS) does. Game system operating systems are usually designed to use as little system resources as possible to devote it to the games. Why do you think the PC system requirements for many multi-platform games are so high?
Fitting a game as graphically intensive as GOWCOO on a handheld is quite a feat I would say. Imagine how much space all the textures, cgi movies, and scripted events/animations take up. It just goes to show that the UMD serves it's purpose in providing a cheap way to allow ample space for games to fit on, and I'm sure they used most of the capacity. The same game would be an hour long on the DS due to space limitations. So be pleased that you can enjoy a 4hr handheld game as jam packed as...
They have been doing this for a long time. I got Visual Studio, Vista, and many other programs for free from Microsoft because I was a computer science student. They are just trying to get students acquainted with their dev tools, so that they will want to use them in the professional world...where they have to pay full price for the software.
DAMMMMMMMNIT!!!
They said the same thing about DVD's when VHS was the prominent format. Seeing how HD movies market share is growing at a faster rate than the DVD format did when it came out, I don't see your prediction having any validity.
As far as digital distribution, how many hard drives do you think you would need (even 5 years from now) to hold a movie collection of say thirty high definition movies racking in at 30gb each. That's 900gb of hard drive space. Not only would you have to b...
Did anyone notice this title is alluding to Soulja Boy's "Crank That" where he says "Soulja Boy tell em..." Man, I hate that song, but funny. Haha.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Sony ever tried to market the UMD outside of the PSP. Do people claim Nintendo is holding on to a dead format with every iteration of their cartridges because they are not used for any thing outside the Gameboy? The UMD is simply the format used for the PSP, and probably future PSP's. And I don't know if you people realize it, but Nintendo uses their handheld format for videos too, not just Sony.
I don't know why people hate on the UM...
I think you failed to realize that my stereo analogy was that, an analogy. The only similarity between my analogy, and people driving gas guzzlers was that your "private" actions can adversely affect other people, whether it's an immediate effect or takes time to realize.
Your talking about my "dangerously fast" sport bike is irrelevant because that assumes that I drive dangerously fast and endanger others (hence adversely affecting others) when in actualit...
That's like saying buying a big ass stereo system with your money and playing it on full blast in your yard is nobody else's business. In actuality, it is the business of everyone around you because it affects them too, and the local police would not hesitate to explain this liability to you in the case of a noise complaint.
In the case of gas guzzlers, it is other people's business because fossil fuels are a limited source and wasting them affects not only you, but everyone e...
Well, I'm not gonna sit here and argue the source of global warming. Whether its natural or man produced, better safe than sorry right? And regardless of this, people that drive gas guzzling cars like Hummers or big trucks as their daily driver (instead of actually using them for what they are made for) are contributing to the quick decline of fossil fuels. It's not like there is an unlimited supply of it, but people act like there is. Isn't it bad enough how dependent we are on foreign o...
I would hardly call carbon tax equivalent to "taxing the air we breathe." A carbon tax on owners of vehicles that emit excessive amounts of CO2 and are not needed for work (ahem, Hummer drivers) would help alleviate global warming and fund programs to help stop it.
Technically, out the box the PS3's default output is 480i and stereo sound through the av cables. By their logic, maybe they should just go ahead and use that setting too.
I'd hardly call them zombies. Possessed by demons, maybe, but not zombies. I don't even know if they are supposed to even be humans. I remember Silent Hill 2 had allot of mannequin looking creatures.
That's what she said.
