I believe developing in 3D allows the developers enough overhead in 2D to do split screen. Expect 3D R3.

Well I feel like there are already far too many shooters. I look back at what made my Nintendo experiences so wonderful as a child and aside from Metroid (more platforming and puzzle) Goleneye (that they screwed on the Wii remake) none of the games are shooters. I rather games like Zelda, Mario, and other none shooters.
