I think people are overreacting. If there is some sort of onlince function it would probably be something minor like in Lighting Returns. Making scrrenshots and sharing them along with items.
Don't expect a full fledged MP mode. That's not gonna happen.

It has improved in almost every way! Save for the lack of character swapping. The combat is debatable. (Holding vs mashing (still possible))

That was Luna, not Stella. We haven't seen her in years. It's possible that they changed Stella into Luna though.
I do hope they didn't change the story and that they will have to oppose each other despite their feelings.
Naming it a clone wouldn't be very correct since Dark souls is Demon Souls's "spiritual" successor.
Dunno why they didn't call it Demon Souls 2 though... Maybe because they are in different worlds.

The only real damage caused here was to their reputation. And financials perhaps.
But people shouldn't write off SE because of one lousy trilogy. This is a completely different team. And we don't know really much of the battle systems's depth. In the end, holding the attack command and pressing the "attack" button isn't that much of a difference.
I'm sure the gameplay will turn out just fine!
An action oriented combat system is nice for a change, but I'm sure it will eventually retunr to turn based.
I like both :) But for me FF is about the compelling story, enjoyable characters, music, famous enemies (like a behemoth), summons, etc... So I don't really care, as long as those aspects are fine ;)
