I don't think Phil Spencers strategy is inherently wrong, but I guess he starts to feel the pressure now from the rest of the company (and investors) to catch up in profits after 5 years of heavy investment in the gaming division. I highly doubt Starfield will bomb, it's too important now for both Bethesda and MS at that point (for different reasons). But will it manage to make a significant raise to the GamePass longtime subscriber counts?

If not, I'm afraid P...

While I heartily agree with the author, I still say why not both. I would like to see a Fallout: New Vegas remake. Due to their original time and hardware constrains, many designs didn't make it into the game, or were drastically cut down. See https://gamerant.com/fallou...
But since now both companies are under the Microsofts umbrella, I would like to see that happened.

Would love a official Fallout: New Vegas remaster/remake, where they finish the content/ideas they had to cut due the tight time/budget contrains back in the day.

Fallout 2 ramped up a lot more content and improved with the QoL features, with a lot more people involved this time. The core team of Fallout 1 leaving early in production (they formed their own company Troika) might show the lack of direction of the game.

It had interesting ideas and themes in some areas (Den, Broken Hills, Vault City, NCR, Sierra Army Depot), but their work were seemingly tainted by some mouthbreathing edgelords in their team. There was rarely an area wh...

Fallout 1 is close to my heart, not only because I experienced it close to its release, but for the weird, still serious tone it had. I was immersed in the world and the first post-apocalyptic games I really liked. Still, can't and won't recommend it to anyone today. Too clunky and technically outdated. F1 should get a Wasteland 2/3 like remake.

I loved the themes and writing in Fallout: New Vegas, the execution of them though was underwhelming to me, mostly because...

Since Bethesda/Zenimax is now backed with MS money, they should be much more flexible on when to pull the plug on the main development. I doubt MS wants to risk a Fallout 76 or Cyberpunk 2077 release disaster for one of their new, possible major IP. I'm looking forward to it.

@goldwyncq
TLOU 1 ending was not her decision, Joel quite literally called the shots there against her wishes. Joel never worked through his trauma of loosing Sara, which highly influenced his decision when Ellie starts to grow on him and is about to die (see Joel reactions to Ellie in the final act of Tess vs. Joel reaction in the final act of the game).

In TLOU 2 Ellie made it very clear in that she will never forgive him for that, but since she loves him she wan...

After she lost everything she loved in TLOU2, I would like to see a healing process for her in TLOU3. I would like to see Ellie grudgingly taking care of a pupil and warming up to it (mirroring Joel). In the end become the source of a vaccine/antidote she was destined for since the beginning, like to save said pupil in exchange for her life.

Also I don't care if people come and say "bUt YoU cAn'T mAkE A vAcCiNe AgAiNsT sPoReS!!!1111", it's a post-apoca...

Can't really tell how Greenberg is today, but back in my Xbox360 days (oof, we're talking 10+ years ago), he had such a pervy douchey vibe, I couldn't stand him. So I might have been wrong all along.

God, I miss my Xbox360 days, but I hated the Metro-UI change in 2012(?) so much. It was one of the reasons I switched to Playstation with the next generation.

MS cares more about Gamepass than Xbox tbh. Sony on the long run will too with their Plus stuff (thus their PC push). But at least currently you still have games exclusive to the console which are not on the PC, which, correct me if I'm wrong, is a concept not existing anymore on Xbox for a while now.

But once there will be a hard and software standard for TVs in case for gaming, Sony/MS will only sell premium controllers and headsets for their services. Or you be the w...

Base building and real-time strategy which can be slowed down is a neat genre change for that franchise. I still wished we could've got that Aliens: Crucible Action RPG from Obsidian back in their prime.

That's a weird article, Netflix provides a family account (share to 4 people) like Microsoft is now introducing, both with a heftier price tag. When a chunk of people got used to share their cheap Netflix accounts with others and without punishment, why should they switch to a more expensive account if they don't enforce their policies?

Great, would be nice if they make a "Hello Games" approach and revisit/rework the half-baked "Depthroots Depths" and make the Mountain Giants/Consecrated Snowfield map more interesting. Even the Radagon arena could be more spectacular or move the fight directly into the Elden Beast arena. Also finish some of the cut content, which were promising ideas.

But other than that, I really love Elden Ring. It is, for me, a highlight this year.

Yeah, there are a couple of golden summons signs, but some are depended on sidequest like for Milicent or Nepheli Loux against Godfrey (aka Hoarah Loux). Tbh I missed them all in my first playthrough too, the same with pretty much most NPC quests as they added their location icons when I already was close to finish.

I did, Returnal was the very first game I played on the PS5 and currently the only exclusive I can't find any love for. I even tried it again after half a year later, because the idea intrigued me. But still, after a couple of hours I again dropped it in favour of other games.

But i appreciate that Sony let at least some of their Studios experimenting with new IPs instead of just make a safe bet with another sequel/remake.

Barely anyone from the New Vegas devs are still at Obsidian though, but two of the core team from the original Fallout 1/2 crew came back to Obsidian like a couple of years ago. Their first game "The Outer Worlds" was painfully mediocre to my surprise. However that was planned and designed pre-MS purchase, so it was on a very small budget. Still now with MS money under their belt, it might get interesting again, a Fallout title with longer dev time. Who knows what they can accomplis...

@Deadfrag
It's probably just forced "always on" which doesn't seem always to work properly, for example in their own franchise: "Meanwhile, on Xbox, something in how Halo Infinite presents new frames causes stutter issues at 120Hz with VRR active - the game drops frames, but rather than delivering smooth updates like other titles running under VRR, it still appears jerky."
