Personally, I think Final Fantasy VII is in need of a proper HD remake. It's scale in terms of story and locations wasn't given enough justice on the PS1 platform. Don't get me wrong, I loved the pre-rendered locales and environments in the game, but the actual 3D was bad (character models, vehicles, enemies etc). The whole dystopian atmosphere was amazing in FF7 but I really would like to see it in HD.
As for Final Fantasy VI. I also believe it deserves a remake ...
Actually the Japanese casting of Terra and Kefka in Dissidia are perfect.

It makes me wonder. This is set before Kratos made a blood oath to Ares. Meaning that early parts of the game may be Kratos fighting with a Spartan sword and shield, right?
And wouldn't it be epic to see Kratos fight that Barbarian leader that comes back from the dead in GOW2.
While FF7 didn't have classes on the surface, certain traits did remain.

Tifa was monk class.
Aerith was white mage class.
Red XIII was beast class.
Cait Sith was beastmaster class.
Cid was dragoon class.
Yuffie was ninja class.

I tried to play Xenogears about a year ago. I didn't quite get the combat system and the navigation in towns was awful. The camera is zoomed in too much and the fact you could rotate it confused the hell out of me of where I should go.
I'll probably try again later this summer. I hear the story is really good. I also completed Xenoblade last year.

True. Versus' gameplay is very similar to Kingdom Hearts so the engine would fit comfortably with KH3.
The question is when will the PS4 even be released. Sony did intend for the PS3 to last a decade. The PS3 launched in 2006. That's still 4 years to go. It's likely KH3 will be out by then or at least nearly completed.

However you say 1 & 2 have a much more serious tone but what I've experienced so far isn't really that serious or mature. I dunno. Maybe I'm too used to Final Fantasy storylines.

Yeh Genesis is still alive. But apparently he's not technically a villain like Sephiroth was.
