because if the system does not sell well, like: Dreamcast, jaguar, gamecube, xbox, n-gage, virtual boy, (oh notice Sony is not on the list :)) then you as one of the few owners are screwed because few to no games will be available for your system and that matters, like a lot.
This generation has not seen that problem, everyone is selling fantastic (specially that stupid Wii which i disconnected after months of dust collecting)

... they truly are the most committed. if i did not know better i would say Sony is a company based on video games only, but its not like that, the PS brand is a division is this larger than life company that makes just about anything electronics.
they support so much the PS3 that sometimes i want to buy a second one for the bedroom, its just ridiculous. and with that type of commitment you know the PS3 will be around for a very long time.
