IMO best way to have fun with the game is to play solo for majority of time, and joining 'nearby player' only when I feel overwhelmed.
try to complete the game in SP mode, without cheating or exploiting. it's bloody thrilling, scary and survival-focused. playing in coop is fun, playing alone is scary and quite hard.
wow, that's a score! EDGE should re-review:P
it's one of the ugliest locations I found in game (at least on x360).
it's not like console version of games are error-free, neither consoles thereself. but when you making a game you are pretty sure that ALL users will be running EXACTLY same hardware/software, not running third-party software etc.. MS and Sony also puts a lot of effort to test'em against common issues - pc ports goes 'as they are' - and steam version of DI is best example of where such politics leads.
it's not a review. it's the Trailer review... ppl - give it a break! it's one-of-a-kind gem, and you are still sticking to the cgi trailer, that was told not to have many incommon with the game. since it was released.
don't be such a geek - play the game and you'll see what it's about!
not 'one of'. just 'the best' :P
a lot more!
@wallis: there are two kinds of saves: player and checkpoint. you can always load last checkpoint or wait for respawn (menu -> load last checkpoint).
pick up R3 if you want good generic shooter or DI if you want something fresh and new. DI is a game that don't fit any frame - hope for more titles like the one.
'piss poor save system'? i'd take it into consideration... remember that the game is able to mix-up many game sessions because of drop in/out support. you can make jump into future or past, and back into your own session (or not). it's much more complicated system than in any other game I know. it's a mess that somehow works ;)
you sure will. it's great game with some ignorable issues. if you like the genre you'll love it, if it's not your kind you'll see only the bugs. IMO that's the reason of such disproportions around reviews.
it's because of EDGE's score that counts much more than others. real average is shown here (but some reviews are duplicated and messing with the score).
so, what you propose is simply 'crap or 10/10'?
Unreal Engine is powering Bioshock as well as some crappy XBLa games.
I saw The Cartel on friends ps3 once - made me piss my pants a little. Its total crap (3/10 is the right score for it). Believe me, Dead Island is nothing like it.
I just played the game for 4+ hours, and i'm really suprised to see this score. Dead Island is a straight 8 for me (played SP mode only). i can understand diffrence of opinion. even a 5 or 6.. but 3/10 ?!?!? whats the scale? where do they put really crappy games? -5/10 ??
duplicate. stop spaming the score.
this review was already here yesterday. do not mess the average score!
it's Polish games-related blog. in short words: there are 2 big developers in Poland (Techland, and the other one behind The Witcher). Polygamia.pl simply belongs to the company with huge shares in CDP[witcher], so it's just standing for their own interests on the local market...
it looks quite nice on X360 and big TV. the only issue is ocasional framedrops and screen tearing as a consequence. i've eard that it's much more of a problem on PS3 (like any other multiplatform).
