Actually I rather enjoy the stories and have bought every title day 1 since the original. But the loading times are pretty poor and you do control a character in the animus limbo during load screens. And I'm sick of Devs counting gameplay out of all the shit little pointless bits in games which no doubt they are doing.
What they didn't mention is half of that is loading screens where you can move around an empty room
