FF really? I guess you only have to have the brand name and great graphics to do that then. FF didn't define a single gen since the SNES FFIV.
Shadow Hearts, VP Silmeria, SO3, Persona 3 & 4, Nocturne - none of those borrowed from the PS2 FFs.
And SotC was a sequel to Ico, not the other way around.
Now release it in the west, alongside Xenoblade.
FF7 world wasn't dystopian, it was no worse than the one we live in today, lol.
And it wasn't nearly as well realized as those other games.

iPhone is definetely slowly becoming another gaming handheld, I don't think it will ever be able to replace something like Nintendo's platform, but it sure is a decent one as well, both for 'casual' and more deep games.
FFX was awful, one of the worst entries. The plot was one giant overdramatic cliche, the battle system was dated and boring, the characters were god awful, the only thing the game did well were the visuals. FF went downhill after the seventh game, with 6, 4 and 7 being the best in the series.

They're right about HL, it completely redefined fps. It set the standard for campaign so high, the game pretty much remained untouchable for years. the enemy AI and storyline were unbelievable for that time.
Doom- it did nothing of that sort, if they wouldn't release that kind of game, someone else would. Duke3D did a lot more for the fps.
