How would it work on a ps4 without being booted from PSN? With how stealthily the PS4 updates, I doubt anyone would still be running that old firmware.

The ESRB has always done its job. Its only outside parties that seem to want to take it into their own hands that are doing too much.
The remake of the first one (God Eater Ressurection) is pretty good as well. It introduces Predator styles that are really fun to do. Third entry is decent but lacking in the content and soul that the first and second had.
