Dude Sony has briefed devs on the new more powerful Ps4 it is not just a slim. Confirmed by Forbes and even Digital foundry says they have seen the documents given to devs. This happening sorry your wrong.

Honestly I am excited for this I have 2 Ps4 one @ the office I will sell this one now and put it towards new version. With remote play on Pc and my Ps vita I can still play @ the office so no worries. Honestly both consoles are pretty weak when they can't do 1080p 60fps in every game so update is needed to move gaming forward. I suspect new version will do 1440p upscaled to 4k and for 1080p sets it will be 1080p super sampled @ 1440p.

ops look like there are some hdmi 1.4 devices like roku that can do amazon over HDMI 1.4. guess it depends as amazon allows it but not netflix. So I guess the Op is correct it can do it Youtube and amazon 4k,Hulu

Ye I totally forgot about this HDCP 2.2 is required and only HDMI 2.0 has this . So although Vp9 and hevc can play 4k you also need HDCP 2.2 they simply will not play without.
you do not need hevc to stream 4k . There is Vp9 that does it too. Also Xb1 has hevc the console got Hevc update last june http://support.xbox.com/en-...

I have said this so many times the gpu is capable of streaming 4k 30fps videos through the HDMI 1.4 port. Same goes for Xb1 all that is needed is a software update to enable this. The difference is HDR this needs HDMI 2.0a also hdmi 2.0a brings 60 fps 4:2:0 10 bit playback.

Yes I agree problem is both wanted to make money this time on each console sold so they went cheap on HW. Pc is way beyond consoles like 5-6 times more powerful and this is holding back gaming. B4 consoles where ahead of Pc not the case anymore.Example Pc top of the line lets put Ps4 in Pc place(imagining it is a Pc not Ps4) the Ps4 would be compared to wii. TBH the power differences is even greater bottom line consoles are very underpowered.
Ram is not gunna fix the weak gpu in Xb1 or make it run @ 60fps. You need a new GPU for that cmon make a informed comment buddy.
No the game will scale to console capabilities just like PC. You think they make several PC versions of one game? They don't system info is run and OS knows what ur GPU is capable of and adjust graphics accordingly.
The new polaris from AMD can do this the R9 480 can do 1440p 60 fps with half the power from previous generationsand the die being shrunk to 14nm. R9 480 will be around 300 dollars now MS buy chips in bulk so they will get a better deal say 175 each cheap. Lets see what happens but I am certain it's not just 4k hdr capabilities as both consoles are underpowered just Xb1 little more so than PS4.
@BigGamersSmallTalk prce @ the most will be 499 I also full expect a price drop for OG XB1 to around $250-300. Also Xb1 is currently able to do 4k streams they just need a software update to enable it. Xb1 has HDMI 1.4 which is enough for 4k 30 fps without HDR.
PS vr can't compete unfortunately as they graphics are not as good and the res is just 1080p compared to 2k on the pc VR.
lets see I think it will have a gpu capble of doing 1440p then it will upscale to 4k. I know that it will include HDMI 2.0,HDR and a 4k bluray player.
