It can but Netflix and amazon don't want 4k over hdmi 1.4 no HDCP 2.2 protection . This changed when hdmi 2.0 was made and HDCP 2.2 now stuff is coptright protected and HDR is supported hence no Hdmi 1.4 4k streaming.
