Question: Wat do you do if you want to buy a console to play gta4? Do you buy a 360 and then get the dlc, and risk not getting gta5, or do you buy a ps3 and enjoy gta4 and still be able to play gta5 in future.
I think this is a good point that every gta fan should know about, and sony should be using it as a selling point for gta4 on ps3
Maybe that 50million for exclusive dlc was in fact for "special" versions of future gta titles.
And by special i mean dumbed down.
I dont think the 2 can be compared. Even though the ps2 was the weakest console, it was still;
1. A big improvement from the ps1, unlike wii which is just a slightly faster gamecube
2. It took a few years for the full power of the console to be harvested, unlike wii which is apparently already maxed
3. ps2 still managed to keep up in terms of graphics to the other 2 (reason, i dont know, maybe more developement time, better architecture???)

I wont be surprised if MS tries to copy Nintendo next gen like they tried to copy PS2 with the 360.
I think Sony will continue to push the limits with their hardware but it wont be expensive next time round (still use an iteration of the cell, bluray drives will be cheap)

but i don't have a problem with getting a 40Gb. I dont really mind keeping my ps2 since its fairly new and ps2 games dont really upscale that well.
And as for the hard drive i would probably replace it with a 200Gb anyway.
There is currently a gt5p & gta4 bundle in NZ so might get that in 2 or 3 months unless somthing better comes along (fingers crossed MGS4 bundle)
If u dont like the the idea for the game just dont buy, but no need to hate it.

Websites like pricewatch are just unreliable and people should just ignore them.
PS3 definitely need a price cut in PAL countries. i live in new zealand and the PS3 40Gb costs over US$600 here. Ok, so we get screwed over hardware, but games are cheap right? Nah, $100 for a new game.
I agree that PS3 has amazing value for money, but sony is stupid to think that alone will sell consoles.

I dont think this price drop will have the same effect as some would wish, but i do think that sony has missed their chance to 'go for xbox throat'.
Everyone knew the 360 price drop was coming, so sony should have been prepared and should have dropped their price first. THey are definitely in a better position to do it:
1. lower ps3 production cost
2. highly profitable ps2 and psp
3. royalties from bluray

Man, Sony should at least drop the price in Aussie/ New Zealand at least. There would be nothing worse than to buy a NZ$800 (US$640), just to see a price drop a month later.

They should at least say when they will drop the price, cos if people speculate that there will be a price drop soon, they won't buy. But if its gonna be in december lets say, they might just decide to not wait and get one now. I know ...
It's a graphical showpiece, something that will show once and for all that PS3 is more powerful.
On topic: I have both God of War 1 and 2, but haven't played them yet. I got GOW2 just a few days ago cos i just bought a hdtv and needed something to show it off since i dont have a ps3 yet. It didn't disapoint from the few minutes that i played it
There really is no point in having the 80gig version if the 40gig had bc. I think that they only have it around because sony makes more money off it.
In Aussie and NZ, there is only the 40gig, which costs more than US$600. Probably when they run out of hardcore buyers, they will discontinue the 80gig, and put bc on the 40gig.
The only other ff i've played is 8 and of the 2 ffx is my favourite. I think it was good how it was easy enough for casual gamers to finish it, but had extra, harder stuff for more hardcore players (defeating Penance was awsome)
My best and most annoying moment of the game was racing the chocobos to get tidus' celestial weapon. Took me about 3 hours
