The game is painfully slow, with terrible control schemes... till here has been a chore to play it. glad that are a lot of people happy with it, but RDR1 is a superior game IMO. Is a cowboy simulator, and I paid for a action RPG.
The ones asking for the feature aren't the player, but the companies like Unreal and EA. The reason is money, the costs with servers goes down, and help them to keep more servers full of peoplefor more time. even in platforms with less players. Helping to reduce the risks of this kind of game and rasing the chances of a longer monetization life cycle.
