No. But they should strive to be as unbiased as possible.

So I'm curious, what difficulty are you playing on? Because if say you have too much ammo all the time and are getting through the 'tense' parts too easily...play on a harder difficulty from the start. It adds a lot to the scare factor especially if you do it before beating the game on an easier setting so when you finally do get around to playing on a harder mode you already know the entire game. Yeah, Dead space and RE5 I guess are classified as the same 'type' of game, but they are no where near the same caliber...at all. Re4 on the other hand had a great story, and did a really good job on the survival horror aspect as well, definitely one of my favorites right there.
And I totally agree, Demon's souls had an awesome creepy vibe about the game. It was like a survival horror rpg haha.
