As far as I understand this is a legit site. I don't have any problems with a legit site giving a game that I am excited about a mediocre review - do we want artificial grade inflation? What matters is how many legitimate sites give is a 5 or less (bad) vs 6-7 (average) vs 8 (Good) vs 9-10 (Amazing).
SSOD - 0% 5 or less, 14% 6 or 7 (5.1 to 7.9), 35% 8 (8.0 to 8.9), 51% 9 or higher.

I don't agree. Sure there were reasons to buy an Xbox One before - but those reasons were only good enough for about 6mm gamers (including me). I love to hear that people that were looking down on and mocking the Xbox One now have a reason to be jealous.
Before SSOD - what were the big exclusives? Titan Fall got a lot of hype - but fell flat for a lot of people. I never bought it. And many that did got it for the 360 because it wasn't exactly a graphical tour de ...
So far this is the worst review the game has received. Not to shabby. I like the fact that the reviews came out a day before the game - but don't you really have to wait for launch to review multiplayer/online? I mean look at the mess that is Drive Club? Its should get 5 points taken off for its broken servers. I personally think SSOD will shine in this area because MSFT spends $4-$5 billion a year on servers. But my point is - scores have to account for multiplayer - great servers ...
They gave Minecraft $2 BILLION. Everyone has a price. I'd like to see MSFT pick up Cryteck for its engines and Capcom.

The good news is - this seems to be the first game that is making Sony owners legitimately want an Xbone. MCC will be the one that pushes them over the edge.

Audio hasn't taken up meaningful processing power in a LONG time. I remember when Sound Blaster 1st revolutionized the game industry back with Wing Commander. That was a bigger deal then the first 3DFX card IMO. Now anyone that's not a music composer or that doesn't want a 24-bit/192khz DAC uses on board audio.
I am as excited as anyone for Halo:MCC - but that's because I've only played Halo 1 15 years ago, and a bit of Halo 2 10 years ago. So Im excited for 4 great games and tons of content. I DO NOT expect it to be a visual tour de force. Halo 1, Halo 3 and Halo 4 will have minor visual upgrades from their 360 counterparts. Halo 2 is going to be limited by having 2 engines you can switch between instantly. We will have to wait for Halo 5 to see what these guys can really do with the X...
It's amazing how little of a difference there is. We are quickly approaching the limits of what you can achieve with a GFX card.
I see very little difference between the 1080p and the downsampled 4k. Frankly I can't tell much of a difference between my 1080p and my 1280p monitor, except for one being given 21" and the other being 30". Resolution past 1080p is the least important part of graphics. I think it's really about HDR, high def textures, number of polygons in a model, number of objects on screen, physics ..... We need to start putting increased horsepower to use improving gameplay. Fighting games were great when we still had arcades, or in the dorm when 10 people could sit around and talk trash, but not so much when you are 40.
The PS3s gpu (300Gflop) was equivalent to a 9600 GT. For the young ones in the crowd that's a low end GPU from 2009. A modern equivalent is a 720, but even though that has the same Gflops, everything else in a modern GPU blows away the PS3 (Intel Iris 5200 is 3x more powerful then PS3).

Yeah way to add 1-2 FPS!!! Mantle is ineffective on anything but crap hardware. Good thing the Xbone has a really low end AMD CPU so DX12 might help A BIT - cause DX12 = Mantle. It won't do much more then that.

LBP1 was the 20th best selling PS3 game. LBP2 was 41st - with 2x the install base. It went from selling 5mm globally to 3mm, LBP3 will sell 1mm if its lucky.
