Sony can't AFFORD to cut prices. The gaming division only made $195 million last quarter despite selling 3.3mm units. If they moved that many units at $50 less - they would have only made $30 million. And every other division is bleeding so badly they LOST $1.2 billion overall.
Meanwhile MSFT made $400 million of selling a significantly smaller number of Xbones. And as a company MSFT is one of the most profitable and cash rich companies in the world.
The launch games for the 360 looked pretty terrible. Compare Condemned or Perfect Dark to Mordor, FH2 or Destiny for 360.
THANK GOD someone FINALLY had the balls to write this article. I mean the gaming press has been so obviously avoiding talking about the critical issue. For example did you know the PS is 5000x more powerful then the Xbox?? The Xbox is obviously a failure that is going to bankrupt MSFT (the WiiU is not in the same boat because it's a cute niche product like those handhold pet games). Did you know the Xbox has only 1 game, and it sucks? I Hear a second one is coming out in 2016.

Playstation is only "killing it" from a sales perspective not from a profit perspective. Playstation is not capable of saving the sinking ship. It is only 15% of Sonys total revenues ($2.9 billion of $19 billion), and despite selling better then any console in history, it made only $200mm of operating profit (EBIT). As was mentioned before 49 of 50 people were able to tell the difference between 4k and 1080p from 9 feet away using material shot in and stored in native resolution. When viewing upscaled 1080p material they could not. But it is important to note 3 things.
I know it won't happen, but instead of a slim version I'd like a 20% overclock for the CPU and GPU. I don't think it would fragment the market, as developers could just flip from 30 fps to 60 if the new chips are detected, or enable AA Where It Previously Didn't exist.

Total BS. The guy has a 2Mbps line with extremely low data caps and he keeps resetting and pausing the D/L. I have heard no one else complain about this problem. Move to a modern country or city. This DLC is Absurdly expensive for what you get. Destiny sold 3.3mm copies on PS4 vs 1.8mm for Xone. This DLC will sell 5x more on PS4 then Xone because of the loss of like 20% of content and the fact Xone are too busy with FH2, SSOD and MCC.
In theory you could add more resources to 1 or 2 games to move them up to late summer/back to school. Maybe sell parents on buying an Xbone with Kinect for their kids that are going to college so they can Skype with them.
Of course that's never how it works in the Game industry. Everything gets delayed rather then accelerated. If Driveclub can get delayed a year and still be a total failure of a launch - I'd hate to see what happens if you rush a title.
