Sony doesn't own BluRay, So Microsoft doesn't pay Sony directly for using BluRay on the Xbone. Sony also helped develop the DVD tech and sits on the DVD forum board, if I recall correctly, So MS would in your eyes pay Sony for DVD as well.

I know it's picking on small thoughts, but Xbox One doesn't have a DVD drive, it's a BluRay drive. Anyways, the Xbox One is selling rather well, so why would Microsoft be unhappy with this? The pace of the PS4 will slow down, as soon as Sony decides to properly supply retailers, instead of withholding supplies to create an artificial demand. It worked well for Nintendo, so why wouldn't a company that loves to copy, copy.

I never understood why people thought the Xbox numbers were inflated, and if people did buy multiple to replace defective systems, why did they when MS gave a free replacement for a majority of the Xbox 360's life.
And if this is the case, who's to say that the PS3, PS2, and PS1 numbers were not inflated? The PS2 for example, was no where near reliable, and Sony pretty much blamed consumers for their consoles being defective.

Exactly what my Barbarian friend said, Sony hasn't really said much of what they are doing with their used games except "We're going to let third party publishers decide that". MS said the same thing, but MS just explained it further.

The only way to force developers to produce better games, is ironically by buying used games. The guy at 2k Games said it best when he said used games force developers to build better games, and experiences that people do not wanna trade for an extended period of time.

GameStop selling pre-owned games and supposedly getting that $35 profit, you do need to take into account that it's NOT a straight up profit of $35 in your scenario. There's a lot of other costs associated with it. It's ignorant to think that it's a straight up profit for them. Let me ask you this, what happens if they give a customer $20 for a game, it sits on the shelf for a year with(i've seen it happen), and gets a price drop to $19.99 or $17.99, again seen it happen. ...
