The article is about characters that defined the generation, not about characters in niche games that barely anyone has heard of DCfan.
All the good stuff will be surrounded by a wave of complete crap. Every year you have to wade through complete crap to get to the good stuff.
And you have to withstand the the force of a complete turd called Geoff Keighley, the most vapid person in gaming culture. THAT is the number one reason not to watch it live.
I hate 'journalists' who make out like they actually care about gaming, and Geoff is the worst culprit. He makes my skin crawl.
Final Fantasy has been a terrible series for quite a long time.

They just need the games. The games are everything really, get the great games out in a fairly good time frame and the fanbase will grow.
That's the only thing holding them back really, the hardware is good enough to allow some amazing games but you need a steady flow.
There's been some great games this year but they need people to really feel the urge to want more than a few, and the only way is with a solid libary.

Apparently you can turn it off. I'd laugh if I played a game and it penalized me for swearing though, I'd be penalized very often.
