Most likely its just for the patch and most people will be all right with a one time connection and those without can hopefully get their systems by someone with internet to get the update (my friend did that all the time with me for PS3 firmware updates and patches).

I agree its a great idea, but its not really geared towards existing Xbox 360 owners, the games are quite old so far and I don't expect any good, newer titles to show up. That means those who have had their 360s for a while already would've played those games if they wanted to. Its for new players who get an incentive to get and Xbox360 and Xbox Live Gold.

Some, I know a couple friends that cancelled their PS4 preorders to make a Xbox One preorder because they are invested in the exclusive games and friends are all on xbox live. But I do know that they plan on getting a PS4 eventually.
I'm the opposite, I have both systems preordered now but I may cancel my Xbox One preorder and get one 6 months - one year into the next console cycle as I would have too much to play and buying two systems is impractical with limited time ...

I agree, the PS4 still has a $100 advantage and many more game reveals before launch while I believe MS showed all their promised 14 or 15 exclusives within the first year already. Plus they look like fools for flip flopping on their console and having to do so because of the reaction of people to their drm choices (though I think publishers were the ones who pressured them to change rather than us users).

Not really true actually, its just that people like definitive and short verdicts on things and games are no exception. We like things rated on a scale and the numbers/letters help with that.
