I have played both FF13 and 13-2 and can easily say 13-2 was a decent game and far easier to enjoy then 13. I would say just play 13-2 since the back story for the first is there anyway. That way you see the story without the issues the first one had.
Truth is the term "jaw dropping" is way over used. You see it almost every other day. Game does look great and can't wait to give it try.

Depends. You will get to meet other players of the game and may make some friends to play with. People will also talk about Borderlands 1 and games in general.
On the other side sleep is more important if you have work. Plus if you not going to play it till after work may as well pick up later and not wait in line.
Both have pros and cons but you get to chose.
What advantage are you getting with this?
I'm 30 and getting 200+ hours of game play seems to be worth $110. And all expansion are not free and never have been. Elders Scrolls does the same hours and pricing and don't have people complaining about other people getting it.
So pay $15 per pack and get charged $75 and lose bonus content? Or $50 and get everything. $50 sound better.
Plus expansion pack (which have been around since forever) offer the same thing. Why is it OK for WOW to offer more but not BF3? Cause with the stand alone I have seen 300+ hour players including me.

Its really sad too. I have to wait a few weeks to see because all those talkers, kids and just have to follow the hype movie watchers are going. Waiting 2 to 3 weeks to enjoy a movie is silly but I want to see all my $10+ worth lol.
