If it's anything like Indigo Prophecy then you're right, the QTEs are often quite superfluous. The fact that their outcomes are multifaceted is highly irrelevant because of how annoying they are to pull off.
I'm already sick of QTEs, so it's extra depressing that the game with all the fresh ideas and style is brimming with them.
But you're totally right about gestural controls. Something like Wii or Natal could make a game like Heavy Rain feel much more natural.
Trade you for Uncharted 2!
I have to say, the fact that a gun found its way into that situation that quickly might be an indicator of where the problems original started.
This looks pretty fascinating
Very interesting read. I hope UK developers get the support they deserve.
Hooray for sense and reason!
There are some small quibbles in my mind that will matter more to some people than others, but the bottom line is that ME2 is a blast to play and it's probably the most well written game since Uncharted 2. Not to mention it's twice as long and you get to choose how the story plays out.
So yes, all the praise and sales are absolutely deserved. Go go Bioware!
As with many things in this industry, this concept of a celebrity or auteur is still in a growing stage. Honestly we have a lot of big names now that are discussed in more circles than ever before. It's only a matter of time.
Ugh this game needs to come out already!
Is that Lilith from Borderlands in that last screenshot?
"My friend Nathan Fillion"
I want to be Mark Meer.
I will welcome this technology into my home along with all the tumors that will surely sprout up as a result.
I'd give Infinity Ward the benefit of the doubt but I agree...it sounds a little weird.
Did you even read the article or did you just jump to conclusions after skimming it? It's actually quite level-headed and didn't seem overly-feminist at all.
I definitely feel like the more mature guys and girls all want the same things out of their games. It's when we get into our guilty pleasures that the genders diverge into boobs/bloodbaths or cooking/fitness.
More women in the industry would only make it better and more diverse. Those quotes about "fraternities" are scary and sad.
The Gold+ membership scares me because I feel like they'll just remove features from Gold and put them into Gold+.
Ew. Okay seriously, random battles need to go the way of the lens flare.
I think Demon's Souls' success rides on the fact that everyone knew what they were getting into. If you establish beforehand that a game is about death and consequences then the audience seems more receptive.
Playing three missions into Modern Warfare 2, only to get stuck in a diabolical maze of favelas leads to frustration because it breaks that game's momentum. But when your entire game's momentum rides on the threat of permanent death at any moment it keeps the player's expe...
I've been abusing Gamestop's buy 2 get 2 sale for old Xbox games and I think I've got 12 games so far for $50. I don't know what's wrong with me I'm supposed to be buying for other people!
I think there's a bit of an art to talking about potential spoilers in a game review. I mean you want to discuss the merits of the game, and sometimes the merits are in the story. The problem is that what is or isn't a spoiler is so subjective.
Some people consider "you have teammates" a Mass Effect 2 spoiler, while some people think it's okay to say how the game ends.
