Both markets can work together.
Dedicated hand helds will always be around...it will just be transformed into a device more like a Phone with dedicated controls next generation of hand helds with faster processors.
The market is changing......
Yet how many Xbox360 games have been pirated...many of those UBI-Soft games? LOL
LOL Get a Job comment...Typical ignorant response.
Ask yourself why the Vita like the 3DS at launch sold poorly once EARLY Adopters bought the system?
Because THOSE consumers...and some of them GEE have jobs, do not fathom forking out $250 for what many deem as a TOY just for gaming at this point. This does not even include a game with the system OR Memory card.
I hate when people especially on this site make comments "Get a Job"
Look...PC graphics this generation...oh wait...Xbox720 trailer...
Remember the doom and gloom stories about the 3DS?
Here we go again folks...Round 2
The reality was in 2011, Multi-platform games made the most impression.
MS does need more exclusives, but its not a deal breaker for many.
The reality is over 85% of games released in a calender year are multi-platform games.
"Kojima 'not sure' if Japan can compete in current industry"
They can't.
Capcom even said this YEARS ago. This day was coming.

One of the best Tablets out there...the price was just to high at launch
$2000 PC built from the ground up will have you running two 580GTX in SLI.
You don't need that at all.
$1000 will build you a monster rig now.
The reality is average consumers wont spend $250+ on a dedicated hand held gaming device especially in this economy.
You get the largest initial sales from early adopters and hardcore gamers.
The majority of sales for hand held consoles are from average consumers. That demographics makes or breaks a system.
When the price drops you will see sales rise for the Vita.
We saw the SAME exact situation for the 3DS.
It will play out the...
The Vita has only been out for such a short time.
Wait until world wide release and if the sales are still low...then you will see a price cut.
Chances are you just might see a price cut sooner than you think...
Not too many average consumers are willing to spend $250+ for a hand held device.
The price was the main issue holding the 3DS back when it launched. Most average consumers especially in this economic environment will not spend $250+ on a hand held console. They will wait until there is a price drop.
Once the early adopters buy the system, sales drop until the price declines.
This you are witnessing with the Vita also.
When the Vita has a price reduction you will see sales increase dramatically the way we are seeing sales increase with the 3DS now. ...
Almost all multiplatform games on the PC are vastly superior UNLESS the developer really screws up the PC version...
Then the added bonus that the cost of that same game is cheaper on the PC.
Just have all Xbox's have massive HDD drives as you stated and have ALL games installed on the HDD and it won't matter if you are running a Blu-Ray Drive or DVD drive. All games are installed. That would be the best way to go for next generation systems.
Running console games on this TV setup when those games are native 720p would look terrible.
They are doing this for windows 8...so all MS devices will be cross platform from Windows 8 tablets, Phones, Windows 8 OS to the Xbox.
So in other words you only have a PS3 to game on....
A simple NO
Its the $250 cost and high price of memory cars.
When that price drops the sales will go up.
The bill gives too much power to the Government to close down sites for insignificant issues.
It's pure evil.
