You and @xer0 both. I think maybe you and all your agrees could find a better term to try and express your dismissal of the technology on display here...

You use the term "smoke and mirrors"... I don't think it means what you think it means...

I was gonna get this game, but after finding out what it really is, i'm just going to keep waiting for Star Citizen to be finished, which will include real multiplayer and an enormous persistent universe as well.

Just watch 6:55 on... https://www.youtube.com/wat...

Agreed, I bet NMS would really shine in 60fps. Also, having a powerful CPU would mean the transitions from space to planet would be even smoother and prettier too. Pretty sure i'm going to pick it up on PC when it comes out on Friday.

Ironic how you complain about people talking about 4K gaming while knowing nothing about it... when you yourself are talking about Scorpio being expensive, and having specs that are "not high enough", while having no clue as to the details of Scorpios price or specifications.

It appears as though you are the one who knows nothing about it or what it requires.

idk, I've always had both a gaming PC and a console. Right now i'm running a R9 290X that keeps up with all the current VR games (I have an Oculus). But the rest of the PC is due for an upgrade within the next year or so. Because of that, i'm actually for the first time considering skipping the PC upgrade and just grabbing the Scorpio when it comes out. My choice will probably depend on the price ultimately, but if they can release the Scorpio at a reasonable price, i'd...

@G20WLY and @G20WLY Not sure where you're getting that from.

Oculus has at least 250+ games currently in developement or released.

PSVR has less than 100 confirmed:

PSVR will help drive mass adoption of VR, that's for sure. And that stands to benefit PC as well once people see what VR is capable of.

Vive and Oculus aren't really competing against PSVR for the same consumers...

As amazing as that would be, keep dreaming... :)

Agreed. Plus if I have a choice between a dumbed-down version for $400-$500 and high-quality version for $600 (Oculus), I'm absolutely paying for the higher quality version if it's actually tangibly better.

Then again, Sony's success with the PS4 has proven that the crowd will follow the "best perceived" version, which means anything could happen because Sony does an excellent job at marketing the PS4.

Interesting... PC > XBO > PS4 overall. But of course, always going to be best on PC if you care about graphics more than anything else.

3627d ago 1 agree1 disagreeView comment

Not shocking at all. It will be further compounded by advancing PC tech and the ability for Oculus and Vive to release even better versions annually if they choose. PSVR will be stuck in 2016 for it's lifecycle, and the gap in quality will start to increase as early as 2017 as PCs quickly become more and more capable.

PSVR will be like the Nintendo of VR. Probably some of the most fun and easily accessible games, but not graphical showcases.

I honestly think PSVR will do well in the beginning. Once VR becomes more mainstream however, I imagine Oculus and Vive will pull far ahead.

Considering how many people were convinced to buy a PS4 for the relatively negligible performance benefit over Xbox One, just think how many people will be interested in the higher quality experience coming from Oculus and Vive.

Of course, I could be way off.

And Microsoft will be ok with people that think like you. They will still be selling their games to you, just on PC. In fact the money you would make from selling your Xbox One would be enough for a pretty decent video card.

In the end, everyone wins. Even the people that don't want to build a PC, they still win by having everything available on Xbox One.

3638d ago 1 agree5 disagreeView comment

That's the whole point. They get to sell you their games on PC even if you don't choose to get a console. They will still cater to both crowds, and everyone wins.

I agree with you that PSVR is a peripheral and not a hardware upgrade in the traditional sense, however it will have the same effect of splitting the user base into two groups, which is fundamentally no different than a console hardware upgrade mid-generation. Only those with the new peripheral/HW upgrade will be able to play those games.

PSVR is the equivalent of a console hardware upgrade. So, you're not interested in any console at all if they add any hardware whatsoever?
