I agree, and the majority of the people who do use headsets on the PSN are nice/funny people, it's very rare when you run into a person using a headset who's racist/homophobic. I prefer peace and quiet gaming myself. I used to use a headset, but I prefer just focusing on playing the game instead of talking over the headset.

I really hope GTA V is good, GTA IV was terrible IMO. 2012 is looking to be another great year for gaming. I'm planning on getting Twisted Metal, Starhawk, The Last Of Us, GTA V, the PS Vita, Uncharted Golden Abyss, and many other multiplatform games, PS3 exclusives and PS Vita games.
The gold PS3 is nice, minus the anime crap on it! Please bring a gold or white PS3 to North America Sony!
