Well whatever they showed on the IGN first 15 minutes looked pretty bad. Like ps3, pre Skyrim bad. I thought this game was going to look stellar. Pretty disappointed in what I saw. Hope it's a great game anyway.

Sometimes I wonder if Altano is right about Wii U just being a stop gap. A placeholder by Nintendo to figure out HD until they are ready to put out a real contender. It would explain a lot, especially letting most third parties walk.

They did, it was called Gamecube and although it was a fine piece of equipment it sold poorly. It was beaten hands down by the weakest console of that generation and the best selling console of all time, Playstation 2.
The last console generation was also won by the weakest console, Wii. It's about mass appeal, hot games and public awareness. PS4 is in...it's hot. People don't even know Wii U exists, even though it has some of Nintendo's finest games.

What exactly makes you think there is a " 5 year cycle"? It's law or something? You don't pull Wii U off the shelves if another one comes out. Hell Wii is still on the shelves and that POS is still leeching off some Wii U sales every week.
Sure all Zelda's get delayed, but it could also be a convenient delay that keeps people into Wii U for that final push year. Since there is NOTHING planned for Wii U in 2016 why would they mind??

Look, like I said earlier, there are currently no 2016 Wii U games we know of. Every thing they have been showing and working on the past few years will be out this year. Sure they may announce a couple more but I think they are moving on from Wii U.

You say that but you forget that they already are looking at their end of year numbers for Wii U which have to be reported to their shareholders and the public in the near future.
It amazes me how people think there is some type of "law" to console generations. There isn't. If it is obvious that your product is doing poorly after your 2 biggest system sellers come out, you move on.

This is true and as of now there are no new games we know of coming in 2016 for Wii U. Usually we know about some games in the pipeline but currently the pipeline ends with 2015 releases and this Zelda game, with Nintendo wanting only to focus on this year's games at E3.
and while usually knowing at least SOME titles in the works coming in the future there is absolutely nothing for 2016. All announced games will be out by the end of this year (supposedly) except Zelda.

Well when you look at the fact that we knew about most of the current Wii U games well before their release (sometimes years) then it certainly makes you wonder.
There is no "Yoshi" or "Smash" or "MK" we know have been in development for 2016 for example. We know about a good 70% of games 1-2 years before release.
