Nothing beats competitive play when those you're competing against are in the same room as you. This is why the FGC meets are so awesome. Offline - beats online every time.
Oh man, what I would give for a Phantasy Star 5 from Reiko Kodama!
And yes, Shenmue 3 kickstarter - I'd pay upfront for that for sure. That and an HD collection of the first two games!
It would be fascinating if this actually happens - not just to see what the target amount would be - but also how many people turn around and support it.
People say they want Shenmue 3 - but how many people would stump up the cash to fund it...
hahah, love that Claptrap!
I continue my support of anything doujin related! ^_^
It raises some interesting points this.
I think part of the allure of this series IS the fact that it was never finished. That kind of tragedy has a certain emotional impact - and it does contribute to the mystery of the game, I don't care what anyone says.
I think he makes a valid point about how it would be made too. I almost feel it would need to developed in such a way that it would be consistent - in terms of game design and aesthetics as the first two.
Nice! I'll look out for those then! I'd not seen your site before, so it's a nice discovery to make *bookmarks*. Keep up the good work!
By 'one country' you mean Japan then...
There was a time when the UK games industry was up there with Japan - particularly during the Spectrum C64 days. Now the US has surpassed both UK and Japan - particularly as much of European Talent ends up in US and Canada for development. I think France and Eastern Europe is also really strong now...
I don't think PS4 will kill couch co op any more than the current generation has. I think online play has a lot to answer from in terms of numbing the fighting game scene - so many players are just to lazy for offline meets now, which is a shame - as for fighter offline is a much better experience - both for player skill levels and for the social side.
As long as there are families and siblings though, couch co-op is still really important.
My GOD this game is hard. I do like bullet hell shooters like eXceed for example - but even this is beyond my powers of execution. A remarkable, beautiful game - but man - so so hard.
I wish Iwata asked them why their so sluggish with their EU releases...
Ah, so it's you posting all the doujin stuff at the moment! You write for Rice Digital right? Really love the site - keep up the good work!
I always say this - but we NEED to see more doujin content. Not enough people covering these brilliant games! Respect to those who do!
The art for this series is gorgeous. So jealous of anyone who can create something like this.
Was looking forward to picking this up because I Loved the Wii game. Not sure I'll bother now - unless I find it going cheap...
Thanks for posting - more doujin love please!
There are some great games in that list - I'm glad it didn't just pick out the obvious ones like TimeSplitters, Jak and Daxter etc. All the games in there deserve a revival for one reason or another.
Also: Respect for having Front Mission in there.
It would be a shame if hardware B/C is not a feature (which it looks like it isn't) I regularly go back to and replay my old games, so I'd use the feature... I hate having to many consoles in my living room because it's so messy. If PS4 lets me play my back catalogue without all the wires, I'd be happy.
I love Sins of a Solar Empire - such a great series.
