Metal Gear Solid was made with the Playstation in mind. That's why Kojima added "Solid" at the end because it's 3d. He wanted to take advantage of the storage.
If MGS was for N64 it wouldn't be as good because it doesn't have room for Audio and cutscenes. It'll be severely gimped.
