You mention consequences in your post. I doubt this kid had any other wise they would have set boundaries at the beginning instead of just ripping the console away from the kid.
There might be more to this story than what has been revealed, but the parents need to focus on parenting.

As a parent you should be aware of what you kids do in their free time. If you don't believe me, who are the kids who cause the most disruptions at school? Who are the kids who hang out down town smoking cigs and drinking instead of being in school? Who are the kids who drop out of school?

What do you mean am I sure? I beat the game last night and when the game is over it goes right back to the start menu. When you load your next game it goes right back to the place before the end.

I got the achievement for the end quest. Go to the fallout 3 boards and you will see that I am right.
