I dont think 12 was great. FF hasnt been FF since 10, that's the truth of the matter.
Type - 0 and Versus XIII actually have a chance at reviving FF and bringing the old elements into the new properly.
Why does Final Fantasy need to take a break? It's finally improving bit by bit and you admit it yourself, Versus XIII and Type-0 look good. If those games actually breathe life into the series why would you want it to take a break?
The only people who should be upset about MGR are the people who were really looking forward to the build shown in the 2010 trailer.

Character Creation and Online, it's really all I need. That was one of the reasons I actually enjoyed SC4 as much as I did even though it was the worst game in the series in all other ways.
I would like to see the single player filled up though, but it's not a deal breaker at all.
