Not really, PC has like 1000's of different configurations in terms of hardware, operating system etc. Way too many variables, a single platform is meant to be 1 Version, in which everyone has, so devs can just focus on that.
I still don't understand who created the rumor, and how it came from here, I thought N4G is bunch of people submitting news stories from around the net.

Just remember NPD numbers, only measures Sales in North America specifically (USA and Canada), that is all. NPD doesn't measure sales in japan or europe, or anywhere else.
They really should have a global sales tracker...
Well that'll be for the month of Feb, considering the game came out in one region on Jan 31st (Japan) and in North America, First week of FEb.

Media crate measures basially all of Japan...
And GFK (sp.?) does europe I believe.
You gotta realize, that DMC sales for 360 and PS3 were tracked from Jan 31st to Feb 2nd (3 days total), and only in japan as the game hasn't been released in Europe or North America (360 stronghold), where obviously DMC will fair much better than it will in Japan.
Japan 360 install base = 500 K sold 40 K, US 360 install base = like 11 million, what do you think it'll do in america?.
What's NPD going to do? It only mergers USA, not the rest of the world...
But it's the game that basically made nintendo, so it's important in that respects....
#3 isn't accurate yet, it's just an assumption at this point...No one that has had the japanese copy has complainned about slow (lag) battles.
Oh i'm not saying it's good, I'm just saying there are benefits as well as draw backs to 1 platform future. You've already seen it with such titles as Gears and Uncharted, those games wouldn't have nearly been as good if it was a multi-platform title atleast graphically/animations, etc.
Then again competition is good, just look at Madden series which hasn't really innovated since I dunno when, as they don't have to.
