Takeuchi, the producer of this game was once a strong supporter of Xbox360 (like Itagaki). Then, one day he had enough of Microsoft's strategy for Japanese market, and turned his back against Xbox360.

There was a Gundam game at Xbox360, but it did not sell very well.
I think it is both the price cut and a new model. Plus, Sony was not shipping ANY PS3 last month. It was sold out in many places.
New model & price cut's rumor were around in Japan for past 2-3 months, so that ppl were simply waiting for a new model.
