100% agree, that controller attachment looks very poorly thought out from a consumer point of view. IF (and that's a big if) they were to do something like this it should be like the Sony Xperia Play where the back slides down and has all the buttons there when you want to game.

Idk, the 3DS didn't really start selling well until Nintendo did a price cut on the system and followed that with a handful of their exclusives. Unless Nintendo is hiding games on purpose and wants to take a bigger loss on the system, it looks like the Wii U will be more like the GameCube and just be a more niche system.
personally I liked their unique approach to fighting. I just wish it had more depth to it. Story mode was good just for trophies and fighting online is only fun for so long. Would have loved if they had level editors so people could build and post custom arenas
With all the running game clones I've played on my phone, why hasn't there been a super hero one? Props to the author for that genius idea!
Didn't have high hopes from reading the headline, thanks for saved me from wasting 5 minutes of my night.
At least Ford or Dodge or GM offers you the choice of selling them your car so they can resell it. The game industry doesn't offer such revenue streams.
As for their refund policy, it's a risk purchasing games prior to reading reviews or talking to others who have purchased the game. I don't mean to sound like an jerk, but no one forces you to buy games on day one.
When did they say remote play would be available on smartphones/ tablets? I remember them talking about their app which would let you browse content or watch your friends playing games, but for remote play to work you would need buttons and sticks which can't really be replicated on just a touchscreen device unless you covered the whole screen... So, I'm pretty sure remote play will only be available on a Vita
Sony has said that used games can play on their console, but publishers could still use an online pass or similar code to lock out use of the disk. It's been used primarily for online multiplayer this generation but I can see it being used as a key to unlock a single player game as well. You see this currently when you purchase a game on the PSN and it downloads the demo and a small sized file that unlocks the demo into the full game.
But I agree, this is all speculation ...
Used game trading doesn't always stimulate new game purchases... Coming form a former GS employee, game trades generally turn into buying more used games (since they are cheaper and go on sale more often)
If there wasn't a used games market that was cannibalizing the developer/publishers profits, it would most likely turn into cheaper prices and more frequent sales with newer titles. Look at Steams market, crazy good sales on new games all the time. The big difference...
Unless Sony goes along with this plan as well
What if publishers and developers were able to receive money from each of their games that sold EVERY time? We could see a market shift to allow more discounts and better prices since the people who made the games would be recouping more of their money. Look at steam and the PC market, that seems like the proof of concept right there.
E3 this year should be very interesting for this reason alone...
You do realize the PC restricts games like the article talks about, right? And with Sony being less than direct when they answer the used games question, I wouldn't be surprised if both companies talk about this at E3 this year. Looks like a wait and see approach will be best
@logicwins agreed, it will be weird at first but gamers will get over it quickly. The pc market has blocked used games for pretty much a decade (or longer maybe?) And they still thrive.
If publishers/developers don't have to worry about loosing money to the used games market then they would have more flexibility on pricing their games and putting them on sale more often. Again look at pc games on steam, they frequently have recent releases on sale for far cheaper than the...
It's an inconvenience sure, but its not a deal breaker. They give you a standard length usb cord and there are plenty of devices that charge via usb these days (phones, tablets, mp3 players, etc.) so you can charge your controllers with those when your system isn't on. Or you could use two controllers and just rotate charging one and playing with the other...
They have said for years that they wanted to add the feature (used to be referred to as cross game chat) but the way the system's hardware was designed didn't allow them to patch this feature in. It is a feature on the ps vita so one would assume that the same feature would be available day 1 on the next Playstation.
You want a system that will let you continue to play used games? Tell me, how many used pc games have you seen in the last 5-10 years? The pc community has had varying degrees of drm like this for years and it still thrives. Look at steam, since publishers don't have to worry about loosing money on the sale of used games, they are able to offer better prices than consoles at launch as, well as frequent and crazy sale prices. Its time for this industry to grow up and realize that it can...
Would have to pick the SNES as my all time favorite. I grew up playing super Mario world and Mario Kart with my cousins, then going to NBA jam and street fighter after school with my friends, then finding out RPGs can be fun (and funny) with Earthbound. From then I was hooked on gaming and still consider it a part of who I am today. The best part now is pulling out my older games/systems and getting to show my daughter the games I enjoyed as a kid and playing classic and modern consoles toget...
