I would disagree with your numbers.
First, what evidence do you have that the X360's optical reads dual layer at only 70% of DVD-ROM? Link please. Differing optical drives have differeing performance, both on DVDROM and DVD-DL discs, so to bluntly claim only a 70% read speed of normal DVDROM would be a total guess unless you provide a nice link to a reputable source.
And yes, you do make a good point, the PS3 is a CLV drive whereas the 360's is CAV, so that's so...
Actually, DJ, you're totally incorrect. Not only are you wrong, but you blast someone for not checking the facts...making you look like a total ass.
The PS3 has a 2x BD-ROM drive, giving it a max throughput of 74 mbit/s
The Xbox 360 has a 12x DVD-ROM drive, giving it a max of 126 mbit/s

Maybe it'll take off. yay for it.
But, I do 2 things with my PS3 -- Play games when I'm using it, or use Folding @ home when I'm not.
I don't care about walking around with a bunch of douchebags I don't know. I don't care about playing virtual Barbie Doll House with "trophies" and such.

I'm unsure about difficulty, as I haven't owned it very long, so I'm probably playing "post-update".
I think my arcade high score is around 118M. My planet mode score (level 1) is I think 10.4M.
The PPE is a single-core. You can't actually equate "1 thread = 1 core", because 1 core might be able to do 2-3 threads, for example. The PS3's particular core does 2 threads at once.

...and here are a few reasons why:
1) DRACONIAN COPY PROTECTION ON PC GAMES
Many PC gamers (like myself) are getting sick and tired of the absurd levels of "protection" that some PC games force on us. Some make you log into an online account, others require the disc, and still OTHERS make you have the disc AND passkey AND check the status online!
The real problems come in when said "protection" software ends up messing with oth...
...but this guy really needs to chill with the camera...horrible camera work, it makes it almost painful to watch.
Also, (just my opinion), he should totally cut out the larger items and keep it to small domino-type objects...they fall faster and look a lot cooler, especially when they split paths, etc.
This seems bogus to me. Just another web site trolling for hits.
I just hope that really, all three consoles do well.
Competition drives innovation, so cheers to all the respective consoles.
I don't have a Wii, and I'm giving my brother-in-law my 360 for his birthday, leaving me with only the PS3, but I wish them all success.
Remember fellas, you may "hate" one console or another, but in the end, competition is good.
...what you said, but the grammar nazi in me just has to say this.
"...this point is mute also."
It's "moot", not "mute".
I'm not sure why, but when I see something like that I want to kick small rodents.

I used to get very depressed when I read such things, but now it's not so.

Very rarely, I'll run into a bag of d1cks on TF2 (PC), talking lots of racist crap. Nobody appreciates it. Well, I make sure to get on the opposing team and begin mopping the floor with their scrotums.

I'm not sure I entirely get the gist of the story, and the problem, but maybe it's something like this:
1) EB sells console + warranty to customer
2) Customer returns broken console to EB for new one
3) EB tries to return console under (presumably) the 3yr RRoD warranty
4) Microsoft refuses -- EB isn't the owner of the console, and the warranty only applies to the owner, not a middleman store.
That's about the only reason I ca...
They have Kane and Lynch in the video! Ewe.
I couldn't even bear to finish the demo, bleh.
GT is cool and all, but I gotta say Forza's damage modeling is simply top-notch, and brings the realism way up there.
I'm hoping they add damage modeling to GT -- it would be a shame not to have it.
Heck, even if they don't want to see the car's body damaged, just simulate damage *effects*...things like off steering, missing gears, fishtailing at high speeds because your spoiler was damaged, etc. etc.
Just as long as a damage HUD was available, it ...

1) PS3 wins! Big deal (and yes, I own a PS3). This benchmark is just that -- one software program doing some renders using procedural textures and ray tracing.
2) You can do procedurals *without* ray tracing. PCs have had games that have used procedurals for years. It's nothing new. A game developed with procedural textures (but not ray tracing) would be easily ran on all three platforms.
3) So, the PS3 rendered the entire scene in 1.2 seconds. Yay? I guess...
So I'm really hoping Fallout 3 turns out to be as good as Fallout 2 was.
I'm sure Bethesda won't make it Yet Another Oblivion, so no fears there. I'm actually more worried about questing bugs, etc. Fallout 2 was a very complex game and had lots of little quest bugs when it was first released. I'm hoping they can iron everything out before release.

Meh, who really cares? My bet -- they're releasing a new SKU without BC.
Sony's already said they're stopping support of the PS2, which is good IMO, because that little monster continues to sell like hotcakes.
It's time to move forward.
So, I think they're planning on doing this by just cutting out all models with B/C built in.
This:
1) Saves them money because they don't put any remnants of PS2 hardware in the PS3 and

At first, I would have said this is a disturbing trend, but now I don't really care, and I think it's being blown way out of proportion.
My gut feeling is the 360's DVD drive is faster, overall, than BD-2x, but who cares? I much prefer the extremely quiet operation of my PS3 over my loud-as-a-jet 360's DVD drive.
