TVs don't support resolutions between 1080p and 4K, that's why consoles need checkboarding
monitors support resolutions like 1440p or 1600p, there's no need for checkboarding on PC, run the best native resolution your setup can support

Because the game is CPU intensive and these consoles including Pro have 4 year old tablet CPUs

No they said th game is CPU bound , reducing resolution won't help frame rate
why? look at their stock price now they are the same as they were in September 1997
