The only big complaints people had about DMC4 was Nero and the laziness of the level/boss design. Combat was great, music was meh, story was lame because of Nero. But seriously, to play 4 levels forward with Nero, then play THE SAME G.D. LEVELS IN REVERSE WITH DANTE, fighting the same stupid bosses with a color swap, it just reeked of laziness.

The patent never said it was a PS2 to PS3 adapter. It said was a current gen to next gen adapter. It could just as easily be for the PS4 to have the ability to play PS3 games, which makes A LOT more sense technologically and in a business sense considering the age of the PS2 and how late in the game adding BC would be for the PS3, especially when there are HD remix...
DMC4 sucked, and I hope they don't copy Bayonetta's gameplay. It's basically Bujingai anyway.
For DMC5, here are a few musts. First, don't get lazy with level design. DMC4 was the same levels and the same bosses played in order, then in reverse order. It shows a complete lack of creative thinking and is very lazy.
Second, get rid of Nero. He's an ok character, and I like his skillset, but the series really is about Dante and that's why...
That this is for the PS4. Kaz Hirai said he wants developers to work with Sony in designing the PS4, so you can pretty much guarantee that it will have almost an entirely different architecture than the PS3. Such an adapter would likely be like the PS3 hardware scaled down so that PS3 games can be played on a PS4. This seems the most likely thing to occur given the age of the PS2, how late it would be in the PS3's life cycle to add BC, and Sony's focus being on the future.
The PS3 has more than 2 franchises to look forward to. Queuing up for the large amount of PS3 games that launch would take too much time.
