Hello,
The 2/4 was, retrospectively, chosen as it best reflected it's position in our non-numeric ratings system. With hindsight I could've chosen better (the review is more of a 3/5). I would take issue that just because a game is a "blockbuster" and has fantastic production values that it has merit. If anything in this case it serves to highlight the game's shortcomings.
And by the way, I'm British. And yes, I and my team are gay. ...
We're serious enough.
Unfortunately our bespoke ratings system doesn't use numbers, so I had to do a "like for like" during the submission process (with hindsight and judging by people's responses, not the best idea).
Hi Kikizoo,
In response to your comment, it wasn't just "the story" but the way it was presented and the negative impact on the game's best qualities that I took issue with. It is just my opinion.
Chris
I welcome your opinion, but as I point out in the review, the story and it's implementation, in my opinion, seriously undermines the strengths of the game elsewhere (which the review does acknowledge). And for the record, Killzone 2 is my favourite game ever.
.. between conservative and just plain ignorant.
... on the Killzone 3 booth the plaque said "2 player online and offline co-op". You can take it as a dead cert, I think.
Can inFamous 2 come out first please?!
THIS is what passes for "journalism"? Really? Conjecture? Complete lack of research or the ability to back up one's argument with reason or statistics? Pffffft!
1) Use of vehicles. This would validate the Assault class's RPGs and guided missiles.
2) Small points rewarded for "fix" repairs, team heals [especially these-there was no real motivation to use health packs as a medic, as they did not aid progression], and kill assists.
3) Unique points for each maps a la the nuclear blast in Southern Hills, the flamethrower (still hilarious after all these months) in Suljeva Hills.
4) A very personal one this one-the ab...
... underestimate the importance of being able to distinguish yourself from the crowd. Especially in this genre.
I really liked the weighty controls of Killzone 2 as well. I deliberately chose it as my first FPS [that I ever played] because if I was going to play in the most overcrowded genre of them all, I wanted something different. I really liked the heavy feeling of carrying a real metal gun that felt like it shot real bullets that connect with a real enemy who I have to kill but I really respect. The Helghast in KZ2 were smart and didn''t make it easy for me in any way. I had to earn every ...
No, thank you!
... but it isn't about 'separating' where we're coming from. For some gay guys, it's hard to meet "like-minded" players, and occassionally have to put up with abuse online. The site's purpose is a) to provide a platform or gay guys to talk connect with each other, and b) offer an alternative take on games.
.. I think....
.... this game looks to have some lovely effects, true, but in all sincerity, Killzone 2 has already done everything this developer diary promises in terms of AI, particle effcts etc (sadly not the script though). The tone of the article is laughable though, it's far too one sided.
1) get the facial animation to catch up to the rest of the game
2) PLEASE improve the dialogue, apart from Visari's incredible monologues, the dialogue was a generic, jingoistic afterthought at best
3) Playing as a Heg would be amazing-they're far more compelling than the ISA
4) can't agree more about finding a way to kill off Rico
5) get the buddy AI to balance out with the Heg AI
Other than that, I'm really happy with the controls, love how they feel (ev...
.. is the SOUND of the thing, it's awesome.
...PSN games out there, unbelieveable value for money, super cute, fun and challenging all at the same time.
Sorry, frosty, it's "first date" material only :)
