After the cancellation of Scalebound it makes sense for MS to push another game but also hint a comeback of a long-running franchise. It's amazing really that Mech Assault was left to die.

It only makes sense if they actually make it worthwile, something Nintendo has a poor track record of doing if you look at virtual console support and the Wii U.

Microsoft are desperately trying to corner the PC market but they need to realise that an improved store is a big step, but not the main. They need to stop UWP/W10/Etc intruding on games, preventing mods and other programs from working

Cancelling a game is better for the gamers? Well, sure, I suppose so if it's as bad as such as Ride to Hell: Redemption, but was Scalebound that bad really?

The scepticism on VR is something I've said before. Unless you're one of the rare big selling titles, or one funded by subsidies by Valve/Oculus/Sony then making money is difficult for now, too small of a base to work with. Quite surprised they aren't planning on working with the Switch though; Nintendo consoles aren't exactly an ideal fit with Shadow Warrior, but they have attempted to have some of the more adult-rated games on there.

I'm more worried that Pikachu is a highly searched character on pornhub!

A fairly high price for them, but if they're as good as described it will be worth it. Though I'm still happy with my Ultrawide montior!

I was dissapointed with Dishonored 2, though that's due to me being a PC gamer and it's pretty abysmal launch. Game was great, but honestly, standout game for me in this list and genre was Hitman. The way it was released really worked, and I was skeptical as hell over it!

Let's hope this is the case. Prey is a game that was great but sadly overlooked and seemingly died due to it. Don't want anything to hinder the reboot of the series. That and Dishonored really did have a terrible launch.

My top shooter of the year was Doom, huge surprise considering what it looked like prior to launch as well. Honestly, still not played BF1 though!

No game is immediately better due to open world. Hell, I'm one of the most anti-Ubisoft people around at the moment and I do nothing but condemn the rut they're in, the constant open-worlding and Ubisofting of so many genres and franchises. However, there are merits to an open world and Alan Wake could have certainly benefited from the added content, the freedom to explore a town of horrors and such as that.

Of course a driven structure is always good for a creator,...

That's certainly an argument to a point, but I've just never bought into it. The same way I don't buy into people who vomit up coloured milk (Millie Brown) onto a canvas and it be considered art. I suppose something, anything and everthing in the world can be considered art to somebody, but that just means that the distinction of what is or isn't art is too watered down.

If the argument stands then it means that the Transformers films are art, the Call of Du...

See, the original idea of Alan Wake was for it to be more open. That would have been fantastic, to see a game with the obvious quality of Alan Wake be considerably less linear and, as a result, less boring. The best example of this would be Deadly Premonition which has become a cult classic for a number of reasons, the open world and being able to explore it certainly helped this.

Now as it says "Innocent until proven guilty" does stand, but there's little doubt they wouldn't arrest him without at least some grounds. We don't know the role he's played, what he's done, but there's at least something they're suspicious of and have something to back up their suspicions.

Edit: Read the full chat logs. The admin warning is a bit pointless, the chat logs are damning, incredibly damning.

Reports of disorganisation were to be expected, just look at how long the game took. But for the core story to have changed that much is terrible and a bit of a testament to how bloated gaming can be.
Shame about some of the redesigns though, his originals were great. Not that the current ones aren't also great... Bit of blue for the lads with Cindy, eh?

Each to their own. I don't honestly think I could either, but there are few games that are. Ico, Okami, such as those definetely. Certainly fantastic games though.

How is it ground breaking? I mean really, what does it impact on the character at all? There's literally nothing ground-breaking about it in the slightest, there have been openly homosexual characters in games before, there will be again. The only reason it's being noticed is because
1) It's Overwatch.
2) It was hidden from people on release, thus making it news now.

Not necessarily, there are companies that aren't seen as villains. They can be well liked like CD Projekt Red, Rockstar and even huge ones like SEGA who have improved their image dramatically. Some can be just there, relatively neutral in peoples minds but still large enough like Focus Home Interactive, Deep Silver and Codemasters.

It's only certain companies who have taken to screwing the consumer that are considered horrible. EA (they can't make their minds up...

I can't help but disagree with your assessment, for one reason alone. Microsoft have 'lost' this generation, there's little doubting that fact. The PS4 sold considerably better and Scorpio has already lost out on time to the PS4 Pro. Since Scorpio is just MS's equivalent, if they don't release it at a decent price point and out-do Sony in some respects, then it makes yet another lost battle in that case.

The next generation of consoles wont be for qu...

Yes, of course they are. That's why 75+% of the games they release follow the exact same formula and why they have been pushing the consumer unfriendly policies even worse than EA and Activision.

Does it have an open world? - No? Put one in.
Does this open world feature some sort of tower/marker that unlocks part of the map for you? - Yes? Well done.
Does this open world feature a load of pointless collectibles? - No? Get them in!
