they may he future proofing their box, but gamers misjudge the situation: they are not futureproofing themselves to be a gaming console ;-) the sooner people will acknowledge this the sooner we will stop seeing such nonsensical blogposts.
it is the same delusion some people had about the „sony killer“ wii360 a few years back. fanboys let their imagination run wild and nothing ever happened. micky$oft and nintendo couldn‘t care less about each other. they both got gadgets that are technically capable of playing videogames but in micky‘s case they are really after selling sports licenses and nintendo is only able to run watered down special editions of real games.
good one. i thought fallout 4 was a pile of nono. there are people out there who are a little bit more demanding than that ;-)
besides, the pointless online portion took this game to my blacklist. rip fallout. hooray to abominations of once good concepts.
same here. which brings me to the point that they easily could have ditched the online portion and fill the other three slots with an AI.
i still say monster hunter is goty2018, but it was/is so pointless to have three other dudes join the game when there is no real interaction at all. everbody smashing on the monster like mad and then on to the next fight with the same group or new dudes. i couldn‘t care less that i just played with johnny and hoa-lin-xey.

i am a gamer, so i am not part of their target audience, so i‘m not sure what this article may be about on a videogames site. nintendo and microsoft created their own spots out of inability to provide stuff people like in the given market. nintendo went for the nongamers, microsoft after mommy‘s and daddy‘s license plans. again, still not sure what nintendo may be winning in a market they don‘t even act in?

hmm last game i bought on steam was ark survival evolved end of 2016 i guess. the steam platform is not very appealing if you‘re not blindly addicted to those sales.
