I honestly don't think that it will hurt sales, because it appeals to a broader psychograpic and it's a "new" game :)
I do however agree that, that is what's gonna hurt the sales of the FFVII remake because VII is already an established outing in the series. People wanted the specific elements to remain, due to nostalgia and that's why many are concerned with the remake.
That's my 2 cents at least :P

This isn't turn-based. It's an action-rpg, Adventure game. It's open World. It uses contemporary design elements which people can associate with.
This has nothing to do with the old ways of turn-based gameplay and that alone is a huge boon when talking Sales. So yes, i do think that it would be possible to achieve those kinda Sales :)

Have to be honest, i really enjoyed the game. Was it the best game of all times? No. It was a fun alternative to GTA, albeit with the most mundane protagonist 'of all time'.
I for one, am looking forward to the sequel, hoping that they make another "AC story". You know, where the first one was kinda good, but the second one was a masterpiece :D
