If **I** had to guess, I would say the BR's slow throughput are responsible here. To avoid texture issues with the PS3 version, they probably reduced their size (resolution).

GT5 is not being released because the install base is too low.
You're not going to see GT5 until 2010 if you're lucky; and that will be after a price cut and another 5-6M console sales.
They simply cannot release it with the current low-install of PS3 in the world.

The Xbox 360 -- hardware and software -- is *more than half* of the entire market for the current gen.
